The 2025 SEMA Show has been stealing the spotlight in the automotive world this week, and it is still in full swing. It is almost impossible to cover all the innovations, builds, restomods, and prototypes revealed this week, but those backed by auto manufacturers themselves will always be the most significant ones.

This Forsberg Racing-modded Patrol is one of them. It is revealed on Nissan’s booth, and it is an old SUV with 1,000 HP under the hood, that is ready to tackle the wildest off-road trails and sand dunes. That is wild!

Built for the Power and Tuned for the Desert

The three-time Formula Drift champion, Chris Forsberg, has deep ties to Nissan, and Forsberg Racing is well known for its crazy builds, which are revealed every year at SEMA. This year is no different, and the power that this Y60-generation Patrol packs under the hood is the definition of crazy.

The power comes from a heavily modified 4.8-liter inline-6 engine from the Y61-generation Patrol. The TB48 powerplant is heavily upgraded, but the main components are a Garrett G42-1200 turbocharger (rated for 1,200 HP), a PWR 3” intercooler with 3.5” piping, a 6boost turbo intake manifold, and a Link Fury ECU handles the engine management.

The 4.8-liter TB48 inline-6 engine is tuned for 1,000 HP.

All 1,000 HP is sent to all four 35” Yokohama tires through an ACT twin plate clutch, and a custom NISMO off-road suspension with remote reservoirs makes the wild build handle every terrain.

Forsberg Racing's 1990 Nissan Patrol sits on ustom NISMO off-road suspension with external reservoirs.

The 1990 Nissan Patrol wears a Mobil 1-themed livery, matte black accents, boxed fender flares, 17x9 NISMO heavy-duty off-road wheels, and NISMO round rally lights up front. The interior features Recaro Sportster seats, a Grip Royal steering wheel with an OMP quick-release kit.

The Boxy SUV Perfectly Captures The Spirit Of SEMA

What makes this Patrol even cooler is how Forsberg Racing approached the project. Forsberg didn’t throw a massive turbo on an old inline-6 engine and call it a day. The team rebuilt the entire thing from the ground up with serious performance and reliability in mind.

The chassis was strengthened to handle that 1,000-horsepower output, and the suspension geometry was fine-tuned for off-road balance rather than drift-style handling. Even though Forsberg is known for shredding tires sideways, this Patrol is all about forward traction and brutal power delivery.

At first glance, this boxy SUV might look like a relic from the early ‘90s, but once the turbo spools and the wastegate opens, there’s no mistaking this thing for a desert toy. The mix of vintage looks, modern engineering, and pure insanity is exactly what SEMA is all about.

This Patrol isn’t for sale, of course, but it’s one of those builds that reminds everyone why SEMA still matters. It’s about showing what’s possible. And Forsberg Racing’s 1,000-horsepower Nissan Patrol does that perfectly.
